My daughter studied violin with John for 12 years and still plays today with a deep love of the instrument and repertoire. I would highly recommend him as a fine music educator. I really enjoyed being present for the lessons and learnt so much in the process, which enabled me to support my daughter with her practice throughout the years. A wonderful journey indeed!
Seven years have passed since my daughters started learning the Violin with John after he was highly recommended by a musician friend. John has an amazing ability to teach from beginners all the way to advanced students with the Suzuki method. Especially when our children were younger, it was huge motivation for us to listen and watch advanced players. He gave us a great balance that offers private, group and studio lessons. He not only teaches the children but also educates the parents and cultivates a learning environment. Because of his methods, during holidays my daughters have the confidence to play the violin on the street without looking at any notes. Certainly, people are amazed. John teaches them performance skills as well. We are extremely happy with John and their progress. We highly recommended John.
John has tutored and mentored my son in violin for nearly 7 years since his fourth grade. The breadth of knowledge that my son has gained from John's expertise has truly transformed the way he plays the violin and the way he understands music. John's teaching style includes not only that of the physical notes, but the understanding of the history behind the piece, showing the student how to play in accordance with the particular era and the differences that each period brings. John's studio has provided many opportunities for our son, including solo concerts, group concerts as well as group classes. On top of private tutoring, John has exposed us to his own recordings of pieces as well as his theory books that are useful in both a practical and a technical sense. John always has the best interests of his students at heart, and is a very talented, professional musician and teacher.
I want to thank you for all your effort with my daughter. You have been an amazing teacher, not just in teaching the technicalities of the instrument but in teaching her about music in general, how to approach practice/tasks, the value of repetition and review - things that she can apply to many other aspects of her life.
It is much appreciated.
